Reel start times

Postby Jeremy Schrader » Sun Sep 25, 2016 1:36 am

Had a few casts today with the reels that I put ceramic bearing in , reduced the line level slightly and increased the start up speed on the magnet setup. Was happy with the 112 gram leads and the distances that I got with them but need to do more work on the 150 gram leads .

Heres the video footage , it would be good to hear what others use and why ?

Tried the 150 gram at around 13 seconds and was happy with results :D

I dont know about that Melbourne weather :? You need to make the move north, where its always sunny 8-)

Id like to have a play and see how much i can speed my reels up. But i think ill keep them nice and slow for the moment, as i like it when the leads stay attached... Maybe when I get a BULK spool of 0.31mm ill take the plunge.

Good to see you training hard and always enjoy your vids.

set my saltiest 35h to rotate between 8-11 seconds using .42mm mono line with 4 oz lead and bait and it landed next to the shark's hungry mouth :o got bitten off. The query is what settings the majority of you find comfortable before one run into nasty overruns on your reels given you don't have too much head wind against you. It would be interesting to find out and may set a benchmark for me . Thanks in advance
