Start of turn

Swing it high, swing it low, drag it across the ground? Discussion on casting technique.

Start of turn

Postby Gippslander » Tue Oct 25, 2016 12:04 am

Have recently been trying to improve my casting and always felt the turn was rushed even when I consciously tried to keep it slow. What was worse was that it gave me no time to consciously try to time the pull/punch correctly. So I went back and Studied some masters on the tube and notice that they all had a really, really slow step to start the turn, thus the first 20 degrees odd of rotation is super slow.

I have concentrated on this exaggerated slow step after the timing backswing and turning head to look at target with corner of the eye, and have found it has given me a split second to consciously time and focus on pull/punch. Have any of you guys found this out or am I on cloud cuckoo land?
