Focus on the backswing

Swing it high, swing it low, drag it across the ground? Discussion on casting technique.

Focus on the backswing

Postby Jeremy Schrader » Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:47 pm

Had a short session this afternoon where I was just focusing on my backswing and in particular trying to wait for the lead to step out on the arc and allow me to turn easier and really get myself planted for the hit. Whilst distances achieved were reasonable they were not as far as I was wanting and highlighted that I still have plenty of time to get it better set up before starting the turn.

I would be happy to get any other opinions on the video :

I will do more work on this in the coming weeks as a lead up to the WA comp in April.

Regards :D

Had the second session working with my shorter and lighter rod , casting 150 and 175 gram leads with it. I was reasonable happy as each cast was pulling off more line than the last but will need to put the casts over the tape on the weekend.

Will be wanting to have a bit more focus on the lighter leads as well :D

Round 3 and the swing isn't improving as I would like. Will possibly get out again for a short session tomorrow or Friday. Casting in the morning was good as there is no wind and it gives a good indication of just what the cast is doing.
